L'Oreal Paris Infallible Eyeshadow Time Resist Purple

Recently I have been on the hunt for purple eye shadows. Most Japanese and Taiwanese drugstore makeup brands don't make bright colours, and I don't want to drop big bucks on high end makeup, so it has been quite a difficult search. After combing through many drugstores, I had my eye on the Loreal Paris Infalliable Eye shadow in Time Resist Purple. After finally finding a tester that wasn't dried out, I swatched it, fell in love, and brought it home.

The product is housed in a clear squarish container with a separate black lid inside to keep the product from drying out. Not the most aesthetically pleasing packaging, but it sure gets points for being practical.
The product itself is amazing- I've always wondered why people use buttery to describe eye shadows, and now I know! It feels moist and cool to the touch and glides on effortlessly. I used my finger to swatch it on my arm, with one swipe  it appears to be a dark brownish purple, but it can be built up to be a gorgeous shimmery dark purple.

I googled reviews for this collection and found it to be much raved about a few years ago. This was interesting to me because the product didn't get that much hype in Taiwan, it just sat there on the shelf until it gets discounted. I guess that's a good thing for me, since I never buy any makeup at retail price. I also found that it had been renamed a couple of times, from Purple Obsession to Perpetual Purple to Time Resist Purple, which upset me greatly because it was a pain trying to find reviews for Time Resist Purple. I found a review for Perpetual Purple on Temptalia and was sad to see that the shade only got a D+. Comments revealed that the majority of purple eye shadows don't perform well, so I'm really crossing my fingers that my eyelids will be good friends with purple pigments. I haven't worn it yet, and I'm not sure how I'll wear it, since most Taiwanese girls don't wear colours on their lids. Maybe I'll wear it in the comfort of my room first? Maybe I can get some inspiration from my ever growing wishlist of Urban Decay purple eye shadows......

  1. Really? It's a shame that the rating was so low on temptalia! I only have two of the infallable eyeshadows and these pressed pigments are beyond amazing! I've only recently gotten into learning how to wear purple shades, but if you're looking for a neutral purple shade, then Shale from MAC is amazing. Also Laura Mercier's purple eyeshadows are amazing as well!

Along the lines of purple, Maybelline makes a really pretty purple eyeliner from the MasterDrama line! x

    1. I am obsessed with "purple" purple shades at the moment, but maybe I should start with neutral purple first?
I do have a purple eyeliner, coloured liner are so much easier to find!
      Thanks for the suggestions Daphne!

    2. Well, I'm a neutrals kinda gal, so if you enjoy the bold purples, then why not start there? I find that using a black liner along with bold shades makes it more wearable and it also pulls the look together x
